The Liberal Christian is published using LaTeX using texlive distribution of TeX. I don't expect that sentence to make much sense to those new to the TeX or LaTeX world -- they are little used in the humanities, which is a shame -- but these are very well documented and you can read a good introduction at Wikibooks.
I work with a computer running Ubuntu Linux 8.10.
The .tex file uses the papertex class (slightly altered) and the following packages:
- babel
- fontenc
- ulem
- color
- datetime
- lastpage
